School is going badly. Badly as in I may not graduate. Not that I am really that interested in the piece of paper or getting a job in the "industry", but I'm not that comfortable with the idea of failure and I know it's my fault. I'm sure I will beat myself up thoroughly about it later on but for now I'm sick and tired and going to bed.

So Claire* finally updated the links on her blog and my link now points to this rather than a page that's been missing for about a year. I figured that that update required an update from me.

Life is, well, it's life really. I have approximately two months until school is over, which would be a good thing if I didn't have so much bloody work to do by then. Yesterday was my last design assignment, preceded by my (hopefully) last all-night design marathon. Today was mostly spent sleeping.

In other news, I am retardedly excited about the new mobile phone I got to replace my old, broken and feature-free model. Yesterday I took my first ever crappy phonecam self-portrait. It was a beautiful moment.

I have been having a little wardrobe clean out and am auctioning a couple of Karen Walker dresses, memories of richer times. Also finally listed the corset I made too small as a result of a little miscalculation with seam allowances. Hopefully someone else will get more wear out of them than I have and, at the same time, give me a bunch of money that I could really do with.

My holiday is less than a week away and yet I just can't really get into anticipating it.Two assignments due on Thursday. One is design. Design makes me stressed.

I would like to procrastinate by seeing "Hot Fuzz" again. I've seen it twice so far and I'm worried about how I'm going to cope with the time between when it stops playing in cinemas and it becomes available on DVD. I am completely obsessed with it in a way I haven't obsessed about anything since I was an adolescent. Simon Pegg is my new boyfriend.

Now I'm going to see if I can get in a few more minutes schoolwork before my next round of procrastination.

So, I was walking down the street to yoga at 6am yesterday morning and this guy comes up to me and asks me if I have a light. I reply with a polite negative and he says "Thanks anyway. Have a good night."

He used... sarcasm. He knew all the tricks, dramatic irony, metaphor, bathos, puns, parody, litotes and... satire. He was vicious.

I had a disturbing dream last night. I dreamed that last year's pattern drafting tutor was my yoga instructor. It made me feel all apprehensive about going to yoga this morning. I guess his sarcasm had more of an impact on me than I thought.

Also, after a week of trying to dress slightly more respectably, I have blisters on many parts of my feet. Seems there were good reasons for not wearing the pretty shoes.

New Years Resolution

Only it's February and it's more a vague idea than a resolution.
So a few things I've read lately have been making me think about clothes. Not my usual obsession with clothes as a concept, but me actually wearing the clothes. I'm talking clothes other than my beloved jeans/hoody/purple moonboots combo.
In case you don't know, I like clothes very much. I particularly like pretty ones. In the back of my wardrobe I even have a few pretty dresses but actually wearing them just seems like too much of an effort, so there they remain. In addition to the dresses you may be amazed to know that I own nice shoes (some even with heels!) and makeup.
I own all this stuff because I like it and because I'd really rather like to wear it, but I've always been intimidated by the idea of making an obvious effort with my appearance. What if I do so and still look bad? Time for me to abandon that adolescent outlook.
So, last week it started. OK, so I wore jeans, but they were the ones that I never wear because they need ironing. I wore jandals, but I wore legwarmer things with them and painted my toenails a complementary colour. On a couple of days I wore cardigans rather than my grubby hoody.
Baby steps for now...
